Helping You Reach Your Goals
Just when we thought we may have managed to lose all the extra kilos that we put on from our Christmas break, we were struck with Easter and all those lovely chocolate bunnies (and who can resist the creamy dreaminess of a good Lindt bunny!) Seeing the smile on my kids’ chocolate-covered faces definitely makes a mother’s heart soar.
Speaking of extra kilos, I took a good hard look at myself in the mirror at the beginning of March and decided that I didn’t like what I was seeing. At the beginning of 2020, I had completed a weight management programme and I lost a good number of kilos, but during lockdown, whilst working to keep a home going, doing my best to home-school kids (which I know all parents reading this will attest was not the easiest feat to accomplish) and focusing on growing our business, I sadly didn’t get the physical activity I needed, nor did we eat the healthiest meals.
Having sat myself down and evaluated this challenge I was facing, I saw that there were 4 problems:
1. Time – With everything on my plate, where was I going to find the time to go to the gym and train?
2. Knowledge – I have a basic knowledge of what I should do to get fit and lose the weight that I had gained, but as I have a troubled neck and a compromised abdomen I didn’t want to injure myself.
3. Accountability – Whilst many people have told me that I am an exceptionally motivated person, I have found that when training, it is best to have someone to hold you accountable.
4. Cost – taking out a gym membership doesn’t need to be expensive, but most facilities don’t give you the option to have a month-by-month membership. You are often stuck in a 24-month contract with no option but to keep paying, even if you are no longer utilising the facility.
So, how did I solve each one of these challenges?
If you don’t ask, you don’t receive!
It was really simple and for me, each of these problems was solved by a single person. Whilst reading a newsletter, a personal trainer was featured who comes to your house, with his own equipment, and trains you. Now, I know what you’re thinking…that is going to be expensive! That was exactly what I thought as I read the article.
A lesson I have learned, though, is this: if you don’t ask, you don’t receive!
With this in mind, I reached out to Mark** to find out more about how he works, and more importantly, what he charged. I arranged a time for him to come around to our place so I could interview him.
It was during this time with him that I found I would be able to train with him in times that would suit my schedule, and he was open to different times (provided he didn’t have other clients) if my work week required (Tick off problem #1), he was well educated in the space of personal training as well as working with the elderly and injured bodies (Tick off problem #2) and he had an incredibly passionate personality, so I knew he would push me just over my perceived limits and keep me going to achieve my goals (Tick off problem #3). Now we were down to problem #4…cost. Would I need to sell a kidney to afford to have a trainer come and kick my butt once a week? That was the million-dollar question.
Wow was I surprised when he told me what he charges per session! It was half what I was expecting to pay. (Tick off problem #4).
This health-promoting habit helps to soothe the muscles, increase circulation, hydrate the skin, and detoxify the body whilst relieving internal swelling.
Already a month into my training, I am feeling better about my body and the extra physical activity is most certainly aiding positively to my mental state. Besides taking my Release-Sce Forte* daily to keep my mental focus at its best and keep my immune system boosted, I also realise that by constantly focusing on everyone else’s needs and not taking a little time off in the week to focus on me, I was pouring from an empty cup.
To this end, I now also pamper myself a few times a week, sometimes with a good bath bomb or adding a nice salt soak to the water as I relax my muscles from a good workout. This health-promoting habit helps to soothe the muscles, increase circulation, hydrate the skin, and detoxify the body whilst relieving internal swelling. The macro and trace minerals found in salts are necessary for our health and can be drawn into the bloodstream during a warm bath.
Whilst I can’t offer you all Mark to come and visit your home, I can help you on your pamper journey with some amazing products. Why don’t you jump over to the Youthful Elegance online shop and purchase yourself some decadent cocktail-infused bath bombs, or perhaps a luxury salt soak and enjoy a little “me-time” whilst soaking in the pamper goodness the products have to offer?
*Release Sce-Forte should not be used in conjunction with any SSRI medication. If you have any doubt about using the product, please consult your medical practitioner.
